Scope of Work (SOW) Reframed

For some SOW means scope of work which is critical in business contracts. I've come on to remind you to not work out of scope and I'm speaking from real life experience. Let me explain. Stick with me.

I've been in this career for 20+ years and yet last year I worked way out of scope. I justified this action because I told myself it's after the pandemic so I need to do what I must which was just worry talking. Here's what really happens when you work out of scope.

1. Clients let you and don't blame them because who doesn't want more for the same price.

2. You are not guaranteed more money but you are guaranteed more to manage.

3. You've set unrealistic expectations for future work.

4. And if your in my position with mentees, you are not modeling balance which is possible.

5. Oh and overtime you stop enjoying the work.

So I've learned the lesson again and here's the tip for my fellow entrepreneurs. Look at your SOW with this new frame. Strategy Over Worry. Feel free to deliver more but price and hire support staff accordingly because here's the thing your unique gift, what allows you to do work in only the way you can is worth every single penny.

Good news! There is plenty of work out here for anyone but first Strategy Over Worry(SOW) and then make event planning magic.
